What is Beekast?
Beekast is a free video listing classified service where you can advertise homes with the use of streaming video. Make your own web commercials, post them on your favorite site and link to Beekast.com. You can also add pictures and information specific to your property like property flyers, parcel maps, links to virtual tours and/or your own personal website.

Why use video?
Everyone has photo tours, now you can have video tours for free. In this market it really pays to differentiate your listing from the competition. Also, it is much easier to demonstrate all the attributes of a home using your own video commercial. Narrate your video discussing all the features of your home listing. Every seller knows why their property is different from others on the market, so Beekast helps you show buyers in a way pictures never could. Don’t be afraid to show off that backyard waterfall, amazing media room, custom cabinetry or wine seller.

How Do I Upload Videos?
Simply go to Add Listing tab at the top of the screen and Log in , or if you are not a member Register. From here you will add all the details of your home listing including any photos or attachments you would like. Next simply upload your video. Beekast.com accepts all widely used video formats like AVI, WMV, ASF, MOV, MPEG and MPG.The video should take just a few minutes to upload, however it can take up to 1 hour to become viewable on the site.

Can I Edit My Video Listing Once I Have Posted it?
Yes you can edit and change your listing after you have posted it.  We don't offer the ability to edit your video, however you can log in anytime to upload a new video, change your pictures, change your price or add new listings.  Most computers come with easy to use software to help you bring your video clips together to form a video.  Windows Movie Maker is an example of such a program.

Why Can’t I see My Video?
Do you have a flash or macro media player installed? If not hit this link and it will guide you through the free process of installing the player.

How long ago did you upload the video? Our program converts your file from its current format to a Flash format to be displayed in our player.  This process takes some time so please allow up to a hour for this process to happen.

What size is the file you uploaded and what is the format?  Although our player supports most of the common file types your video may be in a non-compatable format.  Supported Extensions are AVI, WMV, ASF, MOV, MPEG and MPG.  There are many converter programs on the web to help you convert your file to a supported format.  We reccomend that you keep the file size under 50MB for optimal performance.  Most of the movie making software on the market allows you to select the file size when you are saving the final draft of the movie, so just keep it under 50MB.

How Do I create a link to my web site?
When you are creating your listing, you will be able to add up to 3 additional links from your listing to other sites. You can also link to your listings from other sites. Just copy and past the link provided. You can also embed your video listing into other sites by copy and pasting the HTML provided.

What Sites Does Beekast work with?
Really any site that you can copy and past a link into. This includes Craigslist, BackPage and Realtor.com.

Tips for Making A Video
You can use a video camera, digital camera, camera phone, etc. Download the video to your computer using your accompanying software. You will want to edit your video to make it 2-3 minutes and under 50 megabytes in file size. It will take up to 1 hour to convert your video to our format once you upload it before it will be available for you to review. It is always best to start with an outline of what you want to say about the features of your home. You can shoot video yourself or have a partner video you as you walk through the home demonstrating the highlights. As mentioned previously there are many free software programs out there that allow you to edit your videos (Windows Movie Maker). You can use software to splice several different clips together to make 1 video and to reduce the files size to keep under 50MB .

How Long Should My Video Be?
We have found that the most effective Video length is between 2-3 minutes. If you wait to long to get to the good stuff you will lose your viewers interest and they will move on, so get to the point.
